The Laboratory Technician 2 will perform laboratory procedures, testing, research activities, and other scientific and administrative tasks in fields such as biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, virology, bacteriology, molecular or cell biology, veterinary medicine, toxicology, or other scientific discipline

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and accomplishing goals.

  • Read, understand, and execute techniques and procedures within the quality standards and timelines prescribed by the research plan.

  • Record all laboratory procedures and research project data, data analyses, and analytical conclusions of analyses in government-authorized notebooks and electronic systems in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures

  • Maintain up to 10 cell lines and assist with hybridoma production

  • Perform assays to ensure cell line viability and metabolic activity for each customer order filled.

  • Produce, maintain, and archive department records IAW institutional guidance

  • Assist in maintaining approximately 40 Cell Culture specific SOPs. Included, but not limited to, periodic review, revision, writing, and peer review

  • Maintain LN2 Freezer Inventory for Cell Lines and Hybridomas (approximately 75,000 plus vials).

  • Maintain inventoried supplies/reagents so that research is not delayed

  • Perform and document cleaning of benchtops, Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs), floors, shelves, and other surfaces on a determined schedule as needed

  • Adhere to cell seeding/splitting and related technical recommendations of the Cell Culture Management and applicable SOPs to ensure acceptable and consistent product quality

  • Train on and assist with the performance of quarterly mycoplasma testing and quality control testing as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

  • 2+ years of experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the particular field.

  • Able to follow instructions and guidelines to perform the functions of the job, including but not limited to relevant Standard Operating Procedures, national standards of research technical accuracy, and/or other written guidelines provided.

  • Experience in research, analysis, evaluation of health or human services-related programs.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as legible handwriting IAW 21 CFR Part 58

Estimated Salary/Wage

USD $50,000.00/Yr. Up to USD $60,000.00/Yr.
