Baylor Scott & White Health Environment of Care & Emergency Management (ECEM) Facility Safety Coordinator in Frisco, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

The Environment of Care & Emergency Management (ECEM) Facility Safety Coordinator coordinates activities that allow Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) facilities the opportunity to strive to meet the standards of The Joint Commission. This position functions to support multiple hospitals and is established to work collaboratively with the BSWH Regional Directors of Environment of Care and Emergency Management as well as each Facility Safety Director/Manager and their respective hospital leadership to coordinate activities related to compliance with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, Texas Commission of Environmental Quality, National Fire Protection Association, The Joint Commission accreditation standards, and other regulatory agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Coordinates the Environment of Care Committee at least at one facility (High Level Committee with physician and executive participation).

  • Ensures assigned facilities are in compliance with all required standards and have an integrated, consistent plan for maintaining continuous compliance with all required accreditation standards.

  • Serves as decontamination officer for hospital managing the decontamination team including training and recruitment.

  • Write, modify and monitor hazardous materials (HAZMAT) facility emergency preparedness plans and coordinate all hazardous material activities for all BSWH facilities.

  • Manages hazardous chemical waste streams.

  • Completes indoor air quality studies and identifies corrective actions.

  • Coordinates Joint Commission activities with other departments which include Public Safety, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering.

  • Coordinates meetings with BSWH Safe Choice to review employee injury data and develops action plans.

  • Facilitator of the weekly construction meeting with CBRE, Medco, Epidemiology, and additional subcontractors. Interim Life Safety and infection control assessments as well as action plans are developed for each project in the facility.

  • Assigned to major construction projects to attend project specific meetings, punch list meetings and assists with project close out process.

  • Design and present in-service/orientation training programs.

  • Monitor compliance of BSWH entities with federal, state, local and TJC environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Experience working with hospital environment of care programs, general safety programs or emergency management programs.

  • Proficiency in basic technology and computer skills including Microsoft Office programs.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate to others relevant state and federal rules, regulations, and guidelines.

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication and establish and maintain effective working relationships within the facility, with local and regional health care officials, local, state, and federal agencies, and policy and advisory committees of the regional council and the general public.
