System One Senior Accountant in Friendswood, Texas

Title: Senior Accountant

Location: South Houston (77546)

Duration: Contract-to-Hire

Growing chemical manufacturing company located south Houston is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to add to the team!

Objective: Responsible for overseeing Financial and Cost Accounting GL posting, financial reporting, statutory analytics, and closing processes. Support internal and statutory audits, assist in various projects and tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare schedules essential for month-end closing and reporting procedures.

  • Conduct monthly general ledger intercompany reconciliations for multiple entities.

  • Manage monthly ledger and bank statement reconciliations.

  • Handle Travel and Entertainment/Expense card reconciliations.

  • Develop monthly finance packages and perform variance analysis.

  • Maintain and execute Internal Control Systems (ICS) effectively within designated areas.

  • Support both internal and statutory audits.

  • Assist in the budgeting process and regulatory compliance reporting.

  • Act as backup for local CFA function as required.

  • Contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • 5+ years' professional experience in accounting with industry knowledge in manufacturing (chemicals preferred)

  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles.

  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.

  • Strong attention to detail for both daily tasks and time-sensitive projects.

  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

  • ERP experience preferred, ideally with Microsoft Dynamics or SAP.

  • Offering $43-46/hr depending on experience

  • Position is onsite M-F and has long term potential
