The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

JOB SUMMARY :

Performs financial and operational analysis activities with an intermediate functional or organizational scope.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Provides support to Finance Manager/Associate Director/AVP of Finance related to various legislative requests, internal and external audits.

  • Perform monthly and yearly closing duties as it relates to the preparation, processing and reviewing of journal entries and analysis.

  • Provides support to Finance Manager/Associate Director/AVP of Finance related to Asset Management, ensuring timely accounting of CMC’s assets in compliance with policy, with close coordination with various Asset Custodians across the state.

  • Efficiently retrieves and compiles financial data and statistical information and preparing the same to support developing trends to help inform forecasts and management decision making.

  • Coordinates, prepares and analyzes financial and operational data as it relates to various vendor invoices for payment making sure CMC’s obligations are settled timely and accurately, as well as in the annual purchase order preparation and set up.

  • Identify and utilize technology and best practices to ensure continuous process improvement while adhering to internal controls and reporting structure.

  • Performs related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES :

  • Possess a working knowledge and understanding, with progressive development, of financial statements and relationships, analytical techniques, operations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Must have the ability to analyze and evaluate large financial data.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively work and communicate with individuals at all levels of the institution.

  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and be self-directed. Progressive learning related to decision making responsibility with minimal guidance.

  • Effective problem solving skills with a track record in accomplishing goals, highly organized and thinks ahead.

  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism

EXTERNAL RELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT :

  • Actively participates with Business and Finance colleagues in completing initiatives, goals and priorities.

  • Develops productive relationships with UTMB campus personnel, TDCJ, TJJD and CMC Operations while accomplishing institutional objectives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION :

Standard office environment.

Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.

WORK SCHEDULE :

Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent in related field.

  • Up to two (2) years of relevant work experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :

  • Experience working in Health Systems and Managed Care.

  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft FMS, Oracle or related ERP and basic user level skill with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
