In this role, you will be a key member of Medtronic’s center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team and will report to the Director of Corporate Services. This is a global category role that provides the opportunity to identify and execute value-driven strategies across many functions, regions, and businesses. These strategies will leverage Medtronic’s global scale to drive year-over-year value within the Travel and Fleet categories. In this role, you will partner with both functional and strategic teams to develop and implement pan-Medtronic category strategies across the globe.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • As the Sr. Sourcing Category Manager, Travel and Fleet, you will:

  • Identify strategies across the entire Travel & Fleet portfolio that utilize multiple levers to drive sustainable and incremental value

  • Lead your team to utilize global Travel & Fleet policies and data to drive enhanced spend management

  • Lead team of SMEs to identify and efficiently execute projects that deliver value

  • Coach employees at varying skill levels to develop advanced sourcing skills

  • Build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders/leadership and critical suppliers

  • Engage and influence multiple stakeholders to adopt and implement strategies developed by the category team; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is a key requirement

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage

  • Demonstrate Market Intelligence and share trends to ensure Medtronic is at the forefront of the Travel & Fleet space

  • Lead your team to perform RF(x) events and/or contract negotiations to drive competitive pressure and ensure maximum value is realized

  • Partner closely with key functions that support supply management (e.g., legal, finance, quality/compliance)

  • Lead supplier relationship management for your categories

  • Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to leadership

  • Educate on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies

  • Develop robust data gathering and data quality maintenance protocols to ensure spending transparency and support the development of a baseline for sourcing cost reduction efforts

  • Identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities

  • Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience

Nice to Have

  • Demonstrated experience in building and executing successful strategies in the Travel and Fleet categories

  • Ability to influence teams and external suppliers to deliver results

  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI

  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated strength in analytical skills

  • Global Category Management experience (Strategy Development and Execution in accordance to Strategic Sourcing methodology)

  • Ability to partner with and influence internal stakeholders

  • Strong program management skills

  • Solid business and legal acumen with a high attention to detail

  • Positive and energetic team player with strong cross-functional team experience

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
