City of Fridley Seasonal Environmental Educator - Temp, PT in Fridley, Minnesota

POSITION TITLE: Environmental Educator DEPT/DIVISION: Parks and Recreation Springbrook Nature Center REPORTS TO: Interpretive Program Coordinator POSITION OBJECTIVE: To conduct nature center programs, aid in care of captive animals, develop curriculum and present programs onsite and offsite. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Develop, conduct, and market environmental education programs and curricula, including summer camps. Help to maintain exhibit animals including reptiles, amphibians, and insects. Organize and lead a variety of small group activities as developed by the Springbrook staff. Activities may include hiking, nature explorations, crafts, games, canoeing, archery, stream and pond hikes, art and drama activities, etc. Complete other assigned operational tasks before and after programming such as: clean up, room preparation, and materials organization. Provide fun and engaging activities outdoors. Identify and respond to participant/camper behavioral issues. Communicate with parents/ teachers regarding participants/camper s experiences and activities.
