Description If you're interested in becoming a critical part of an innovative company, you might be the full-time Staff Accountant Robert Half is looking for. This is a position you will thrive in, if you are driven by a challenging work environment with many components. This Staff Accountant role's duties will require preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. If you can perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes, you might be a good fit for this role. This Fresno, California area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work. To thrive in this position, you will need to be a detail-oriented and analytical thinker with a talent for creating Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.

Major responsibilities

  • Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

  • Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request

  • Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

  • Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

  • Manage schedules for monthly payments and capital lease Requirements

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases

  • Knowledgeable of ERP systems

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Knowledge of bank reconciliations

  • General ledger experience

  • Foundational knowledge in Full Cycle Accounting

  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Journal entries experience highly desired

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis

  • Self-starter and strong ethical standards

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • 5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
