THE POSITION The City of Fresno is offering a dynamic career opportunity for a progressive IT professional who will support the department's strategic vision, connectivity and enterprise solutions to fulfill the City's information technology objectives in enhancing services to the community.

Under supervision, Network Systems Specialists install, configure, monitor and maintain the City's data networking infrastructure; analyze and modify overall network operations to ensure the highest level of uptime, integrity and security.

The ideal applicant should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: - Administration of Windows Servers - Microsoft Exchange Administration - Cisco UCCX Administration - VMware Administration - Cisco Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Wireless, UCS - Linux Administration Identity Management Tools - Oracle and MS SQL Server Administration - SAN Storage - Large-Scale Deployments - Network Security - Mobility and Mobile Vehicle Computers - DevOps - Office365 Administration - Scripting - Fiber Optics - Business Analyst Skills

The current vacancy will be serving the City of Fresno's Transit Department (FAX) and reporting to the Information Services Department. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three (3) months.

THE REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for the examination and do not assure placement on the eligible list.

Three (3) years of experience gained as a Computer Systems Specialist with the City of Fresno; OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, computer engineering or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and design of networking equipment, network communications, servers, computer data storage and back-up systems. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

If qualifying with a degree or accredited college or university credits, please attach a copy of the degree or transcripts. Applications lacking this documentation will be rejected.

Possession of a valid California Driver's License required at time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.

The selected eligible candidates certified will be required to successfully pass a Department interview, an extensive pre-employment background and a Department of Justice fingerprint prior to employment with the City of Fresno.
