Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Infection Prevention and Control, Infection Control, this position functions as a consultant, educator, role model, researcher and change agent for Infection Control, and is involved in daily collaborative efforts within all facets of the medical center. Responsibilities include education, surveillance, prevention, control and quality improvement in an effort to ensure high quality, evidence-based, cost-effective health care and the prevention of health care associated infections. The incumbent is also responsible for collection and analysis of infection-related data, assisting with determining the course of transmission, applying epidemiological principle directed at improving patient outcomes, and serving as liaison/consultant regarding infection control practices. The incumbent will provide coverage of other services in the absence of the Infection Control Coordinator.

  1. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Clinical Lab Scientist (CLR), or Medical Technologist (MT) in the State of California, or an advanced degree in a health-related field is required. Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field is preferred.

  2. Previous experience in an acute care or public health setting is required.

  3. Certification with the Board of Infection Control (CIC) is required within three (3) years of hire.

  4. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card is required.

  5. Membership in the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is preferred.

Pay Range ($44.91 - $62.87)
