Based in the Fresno, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. In this role, it will be critical for you to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to make efficient and effective firm-wide operation possible

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed

    Requirements

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Solid understanding of general ledger

  • Proven knowledge of Monthly Financial Reporting

  • Month end closings experience preferred

  • Foundational knowledge in Monthly Financial Statements

  • Strong familiarity with financial analysis

  • Budget forecasting experience

  • Well-founded grasp of US GAAP

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Great written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
