POSITION SUMMARY:

Manages the process of ordering, scheduling, and expediting of materials as well production planning for the Fremont, Michigan manufacturing factory.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Planning:

  • Create a feasible production plan within the detailed production scheduling period by shift that takes into consideration available capacity, labor and materials while respecting the product sequencing laid out by the MPS planner and optimizing the factory costs to produce.

  • Manage long term production plan on weekly basis to drive material requirements.

  • Review the detailed production schedule on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure it continues to meet business priorities and requirements.

  • Publish weekly production schedule to plant, and review all production changes, limitations, priorities to meet customer orders and abnormal events.

  • Act as the liaison between the factory and corporate supply chain to properly determine the priorities of the business.

Materials Planning:

  • Expedite materials to support production using appropriate computer systems.

  • Determines deliveries of materials that are required based on production usages. Uses SAP PO systems and ordering guidelines to plan and place orders, schedule deliveries, and arrange transfer orders. Monitors inventories to ensure that older ingredients are being used first and make sure that the shelf life of individual commodities has not been exceeded.

  • Monitors inventories to ensure that any obsolete material is shipped to other plants for usage, sold, or donated.

  • Follows up on scheduled deliveries to identify late deliveries and order discrepancies. Follows up with vendors on all critical orders that are due within two (2) days of being needed. Tracking and taking actions where necessary

  • Coordinates raw goods returns and rejections. Processes paperwork relating to raw goods returns and rejections from contacting vendor to final shipment or disposal. This includes credit memos and line downtime and extra labor related to returns or rejections.

Communication:

  • Communicate issues that will potentially have an impact on the Supply Chain to all necessary employees as needed.

Workflow:

  • Assists in resolving blocked and parked invoices in a timely manner.

Backup for Materials Planning Manager as necessary.

Perform all other duties as assigned by department supervisor and/or management.

Must be available to support 24/7 production as needed.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • BS/BA degree preferred (preferably in an Industrial Engineering, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or Business Management) and 1+ years minimum experience in a food processing and/or planning/expediting role required.

  • High School diploma/GED and 2+ years minimum experience in a food processing and/or planning/expediting role required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in manufacturing environment with responsibility for Logistics or Supply Chain Management.

  • Firm understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes.

  • Experience in production scheduling, material handling, material planning and/or supply chain management.

  • Prior experience negotiating with vendors.

  • Factory master data management.

  • Understanding and following the product life cycle process.

SKILLS:

  • Communicate with all levels of personnel and elevate issues when necessary.

  • Intermediate mathematical skills to perform moderately complex calculationsAbility to deal effectively with all levels of employees throughout the organizationAbility to read, listen and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writingAbility to access and accurately input information using a computer, SAP and Excel

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications

  • Analytical thinking and detail orientated to be able to handle complex analysis.

  • Ability to manage time and organized to handle multiple projects to build and manage relationships at multiple organization levels.

  • Ability to demonstrate discretion and business ethics. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data. Ability to gather and analyze all types of data, identify the appropriate relationships between the different data, anticipate business directions and make fact-based decisions .
