Meta Technical Sourcing Manager, Data Center Cooling in Fremont, California

Summary:

To support our 3.8B+ users, Meta develops and deploys scale infrastructure globally, across data centers, networks, compute, and storage. The Global Technology Sourcing team owns the strategic sourcing strategy, external business relationships, and internal engineering partnerships to drive supply chain execution from new product ideation to deployments at scale. The team combines commercial and technical sourcing expertise, along with manufacturing expertise, to advance in critical infrastructure domains, including artificial intelligence, custom silicon development, and power & cooling technologies.Meta is seeking an industry expert that develops disruptive strategies to optimize the economics and risk profile for our data center portfolio. Critically, the candidate possesses the business acumen and technical depth to influence infrastructure product strategy and drive industry level change. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for the facility-level sourcing strategy for infrastructure cooling inclusive of air-cooled and liquid-cooled technologies for heat absorption & rejection. The candidate will partner with R&D Engineering and Product Development teams to drive the supply chain technology roadmap and time to market for leading cooling technologies. The candidate will also partner with commercial sourcing managers, manufacturing & component quality engineers, and demand/supply managers in an integrated product team to execute on these strategies and deliver best value for Meta.

Required Skills:

Technical Sourcing Manager, Data Center Cooling Responsibilities:

  1. Develop domain strategies to yield optimal economic and supply risk outcomes for technology infrastructure.

  2. Influence internal infrastructure product direction both commercially and technically to yield optimal data-driven results. Provide technical, supplier expertise and consulting to cross-functional partners for technology migration and lower TCO.

  3. Influence supplier technology roadmaps to ensure Meta’s architectural and technical requirements are met, in conjunction with a cross-functional team. Lead the creation and definition of future technology directions with cross-functional partners.

  4. Maintain current knowledge of the technology and industry trends for the relevant cooling technologies and perform competitive analysis on relevant products.

  5. Drive deep technical relationships with external partners at expert level, including fostering new relationships for Meta.

  6. Provide technical review and analysis, and responses to supplier proposals and RFx's. Resolve all technical queries arising from the quote process.

  7. Own technical expertise in supplier negotiations and provide review/input for product development including statement of work and master supply agreements.

  8. Develop supplier technical process improvement plans to improve quality, manufacturing scale, cost and time to deployment.

  9. Partner with other Meta orgs to represent Meta at industry events and forums.

  10. Ability to travel internationally to data center sites and meet with suppliers and industry partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of education.

  2. 10+ years of technical experience in an engineering, product management, or supply chain organization within data center providers or associated infrastructure-related industries.

  3. Experience with mechanical cooling technologies and associated system design trade-offs.

  4. Experience with modular & pre-fabricated build solutions.

  5. Familiarity with industry regulations and design standards.

  6. Proven experience interfacing with and establishing technical relationships with senior management at suppliers or customers.

  7. Blend of technical, commercial and operational experience to understand the relationship between technical roadmap, demand/supply, negotiations.

  8. Knowledge of technology roadmaps and a proven pragmatic approach to influencing product roadmaps.

  9. Proven experience moving from strategy to execution and delivering results.

  10. Interpersonal and communication skills with experience influencing, negotiating, building consensus and making strategic decisions.

  1. Masters or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  2. 15+ years of technical experience in data center infrastructure or equivalent large-scale infrastructure industries.

  3. Experience interfacing with internal and external partners in an entrepreneurial and cross-functional environment, requiring a latitude for independent judgment while coordinating people and technical resources.

  4. Experience in cross-functional and industry influence.

  5. Experience with sustainability requirements.

Public Compensation:

$204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
