Join our team! As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering team in managing requirements, designing system architectures, developing design documentation and test plans/procedures, performing system integration and test activities

  • Lead the program efforts to interpret customer requirements and decompose them into system, hardware, and software requirements and specifications

  • Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, and other documentation in support of design and development activities

  • Develop Contract Data Requirement List (CDRLs) documents per DoD standards such as system requirement documents, interface control documents, interface design descriptions, integration plans, test plans and procedures, and test reports

  • Perform testing activities, including functional acceptance testing, MIL-STD-810 environmental testing, HALT testing, and EMI testing

  • Execute engineering design and development activities consistent with SNC and Customer quality, cost and schedule requirements

  • Ensure that all specifications, designs and developments adhere to SNC standards and customer requirements

  • Provide support in the development and maintaining of configuration baselines for systems and sub-systems

  • Perform Risk Management and Analysis

  • Generation of Performance Specifications and Statements of Work (SOW) for subcontracted design and development

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline and typically 0-2 or more years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles

  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

  • Experience with verification and validation testing such as functional, environmental, HALT, or EMI testing

  • Experience with developing test plans and procedures

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • U.S. Citizenship Required

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Preferred:

  • System and sub-system architecture development, derived requirement generation, allocation, traceability and verification

  • Experience with configuration management, bug tracking and requirement tools

  • Experience with integration/debug tools such as Scope/Logic/USB/I2C analyzers is desired

  • Knowledge of NSA and FIPS 140-2 security requirements and design is desired

  • Ability to generate and present engineering status at technical interchange meetings and design reviews

  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office and other computer-based skills to support system engineering and briefing development activities

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $86,470.87 - $118,897.44. SNC considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
