How You Will Make an Impact

Responsible for the direct supervision of QC Scientists/Engineers performing inspection of Raw Materials, as well as performing Raw Material testing according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect QC personnel. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance and coaching employees. Completes's performance reviews for the direct team and provides mentoring to direct reports to ensure professional development. Continuous evaluation of existing procedures and processes throughout the area and to recommend and implement testing or process improvements. May serve as Team Leader or Team Member to support projects (ie., new product commercialization, process improvements).

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates the activities of the team and directly provides mentorship to QC Scientists/Engineers to achieve goals and complete assignments and projects, as well as adhere to production schedules.

  • Manages Raw Material test requirements for Operations; this includes qualification and approval of the materials for Production use.

  • Leads the team to perfrom routine analysis of raw materials, antibodies, intermediates, filled reagents and/or finished kits according to approved procedures.

  • Reviews and approves change documentation within the scope of responsible. This includes Variances, Out of Specification reports, and Non-conformnace reports.

  • Reviews paperwork generated by the team for raw materials

  • Provides for the development and training of QC Scientists / Engineers. Assure compliance with QSRs and ISO regulations in the performance of department responsibilities. Supports the transfer of new products into Production. Identifies and evaluates fundamental problems for major functional areas through assessment of intangible variables. Performs CAPA investigations, NCAR root cause and trouble shooting activities within functional area of responsibility. Performs other responsibilities to support the needs of the department as assigned by the Manager.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Minimum BS/BA in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Bioscience with 5 years Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience; or 3 years and an advanced degree.

  • Direct supervisory experience preferred.

  • Strong command of Quality System Regulations and ISO.

  • Skilled at analyzing data and summarizing results, as well as generating performance metrics to drive corrective actions.

  • Strong math skills including calculation of concentrations and dilutions and a strong grasp of algebraic concepts.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • High level of reading comprehension skills.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions with a high level of accuracy.

  • Working knowledge of clinical analyzers is helpful.

  • Must be able to write clear, understandable documentation.

  • High level of verbal communication skills, and functional leadership skills.

  • Strong word processing and spreadsheet software skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally throughout the facility.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $90,900.00–$136,350.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
