Meta Robotics Automation Engineer in Fremont, California

Summary:

Meta is seeking an Automation engineer for Robotics and Autonomous software systems to join our Site Engineering Robotics Team. This person will be responsible for implementing software solutions for the Data Center Robotics and Physical automation program.

Required Skills:

Robotics Automation Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Work as part of the IDC Robotics team to develop industrial robotic solutions

  2. Take on challenging problems in robot sensing enablement, including distance sensors, robot localization, navigation, and obstacle avoidance

  3. Solidify and stabilize core robot functionality, including sensing, controls, uptime, and network communications

  4. Accountable for technology solution delivery through requirements review, feature design, development, quality assurance, and production release

  5. Actively manage issues, risk and schedule throughout the project and participation in usability test activities

  6. Actively collaborate with hardware and system engineers to optimize design, ensure functionality, support software production tool training and documentations

  7. Self-starter, quick learner, results driven, motivated by innovation, takes pride in the quality of deliveries

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years experience in Python/C++ with a BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field

  2. Experience with robotic platforms including ROS, or ROS2

  3. Experience in advanced mapping, navigation, manipulation and image processing (OpenCV, Cartographer, PCL)

  4. Experience with characterizing and evaluating electromechanical systems

  5. Experience analyzing problems, identifying constraints and boundaries to develop solution options

  6. Experience defining use cases and articulating user requirements

  7. Knowledge and experience using results to drive innovation

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. MS or above degrees in Computer Science or related technical field

  2. Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Robot localization and navigation, hardware sensing enablement (ex. point-cloud depth sensors, robot control systems (position, velocity, force control), computer vision and imaging or SLAM, robot arm control, Back-end SW system (PHP, Python, JavaScript, containers) Linux and networking

  3. Experience with automated remediation (FBAR) and alerting

  4. Experience working full-stack (React, back-end, ROS, etc.)

  5. Experience scaling solutions, demonstrating a mindset of "scalability"

  6. Knowledge of robotic manufacturing practices and quality systems

Public Compensation:

$170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
