Plant Engineer

Location: Freeport, TX

Onsite

As a Plant Engineer, you’ll be responsible for managing the plant improvement potential in order to reduce manufacturing costs, improve SHEQ performance, and optimize process operations by evaluation or if needed execution of improvement projects, including capital expense projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the continuous improvement program for the site:

  • Develop and maintain KPI’s to monitor plant performance.

  • Collect and prioritize improvements ideas

  • Estimate, maintain and report on all the costs and benefits of opportunities.

  • Lead the site Lean Six Sigma program to improve yield, reduce energy usage, improve quality and reduce costs.

  • Provide engineering supports for normal operation, plant upsets, and startup/shutdown.

  • Support site capex projects by:

  • Lead the project gatekeeping processes.

  • Ensure capex projects are comply with DSM Requirements, local laws, and applicable standards.

  • Facilitate RCAs and A3 analysis.

  • Assist in executing projects when needed.

    You bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with chemical process design and analysis.

  • Good understanding of the chemical unit operation principles (reactors, exchangers, columns, pumps, etc.).

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.

  • Lean Six Sigma Training preferred.

  • Knowledge of LSS tools and their applications, such as FMEA, RCA, Kaizen, etc.
