UMD Automated Systems Saw Operator - UMD in Fredericktown, Ohio

UMD Automated Systems Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to process metal in preparation for the next manufacturing process.

Duties:

? Read, interpret and analyze mechanical drawings. ? Set up saw and perform forming operations to specified tolerances. ? Operate saw to cut fabricated metal products per production work orders and product specification sheets ? Determine proper metal and number of pieces to be cut per bill of material ? Determine proper cutting sequence to minimize set up and change over time ? Operate controls to engage machine and remove finished product ? Observe machine operations to detect material defects or machine malfunctions ? Perform general machine maintenance. ? Assure that the saw area is orderly, clean, and safe. ? Perform quality checks for accuracy ? Note: The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the company

Knowledge of: ? Mechanical drawing dimensions/tolerances, layouts, notes, symbols, and data references ? Saw machines and controls including their designs, safe uses, repair, and maintenance. ? Efficient production processes, including quality control and safety practices

Skills/Qualifications: ? Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions ? Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job ? Choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem including metric and English conversions and fractions to decimals ? Prioritizing the tasks to be performed in a fast-paced environment ? Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance. ? Be attentive to details and diligent to accuracy. ? Ability to work well with all levels of employees while giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. ? Follow written and verbal instructions. ? Demonstrate knowledge of and support the policies and procedures as outlined in the UMD employee handbook, safety manual, and all non-compete/non-disclosure agreements UMD Automated Systems Acceptable Education/Training/Experience: ? A high school diploma or equivalent with 1 to 2 years of experience ? Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted ? The employee may need to provide own personal tools. Some other tools may be provided by UMD ? Must possess a valid driver's license

Work Environment: ? The duties of this position are performed in a shop environment which requires PPE per OSHA standards (per UMD Employee Handbook.) The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Work environment may be stressful at times due to tight deadlines and employee may need to work beyond normal shift to meet customer deadlines. Ability to work in varying climate and temperature conditions. ?
