Legacy Engineering Construction Materials Technician in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Overview DescriptionLegacy Engineering, P.C., is a small, woman-owned civil engineering firm specializing in land development design, geotechnical services, construction materials testing and inspections along with surveying and consulting. We are headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia and proudly serve clients throughout the Commonwealth.

As aConstruction Services Technician, you will be traveling to various construction sites to perform basic soil and concrete tests under the direction of project managers and other engineering professionals to verify that the contractor's work is performed in accordance with project specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on soils, reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry.
  • Prepare detailed reports (written and with a computer) and accurate test results based on field observations. This documentation will be submitted on a daily basis
  • Ability to communicate with clients, contractors, and project managers regarding jobsite issues or concerns.
  • Show up on time for scheduled work and communicate to managers when work is cancelled for reassignment.
  • Safely use and maintain testing equipment
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications to perform required tests
  • Any other tasks assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous construction of field-testing experience (Preferred)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to read/interpret plans, specifications and procedure manuals
  • Ability to draft routine reports with set deadlines
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Must maintain a safe driving record along with a valid drivers license to fulfill travel requirements of this position
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Sense of ownership/pride in your performance and impact on company's success
  • Travel to job sites throughout Fredericksburg and surrounding counties will be required
  • This is a full time position with hours Monday to Friday between 7am to 5pm
