Legal & General America Internal Communications Specialist in Frederick, Maryland

This position will have the unique opportunity to build on existing experience in several areas of communications and will have the opportunity to drive autonomous strategies and tactics as experience is gained with the organization and the role. Collaboration is critical in this role, which involves conceptual development, content collection and integration across the business and departments to create and execute communications strategies that support Legal & General America’s business objectives and which drive employee engagement. This role will have regular exposure to the executive team and will work closely with HR giving the incumbent an opportunity to really understand the organization as a whole and be a key part of making it engaging and dynamic.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Integrated Communications, the Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for managing a variety of tactics that support the company’s PR, engagement and internal communications efforts, with a focus on building our culture, representing our business and growing our brand.

Corporate Communications and PR Support

  • Develop and publish the monthly employee wide newsletter.

  • Own the marketing page of the Intranet site and support and lead content ideas and development for the corporate page working closely with HR and IT

  • Generates content for internal communications, and ideate alternative and dynamic ways to engage employees. i.e. blog, monthly spotlight.

  • Assist in the strategy and development of communications materials such as, the preparation of talking points, presentations, video messaging, social media posts, press releases, and employee communications.

  • Coordinate with multiple functions to integrate digital assets that support communications strategies including photos, videos, infographics and other visual content.

  • Support HR led employee engagement events such as Service Award Luncheon, etc.

  • Work cross-functionally with members of the Marketing team to ensure integrated execution of communications engagements including production of the quarterly company-wide meeting called the Umbrella Huddle and also work closely with the Sr. Manager of Integrated Communications on the quarterly UK/US insurance wide townhalls

  • Track and analyze various metrics for success of internal communications strategies for the company

Social Media

  • Support the Manager of Social Media by supporting employee engagement with our assets and working closely with the Manager and the Sr. Manager on building our employer brand.

Other

  • Works with marketing team and external vendors where applicable including supporting employer branded assets to drive engagement

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Marketing, Business, Management, or Communications concentration preferred.

  • Minimum 1-3 year of equivalent work experience preferred.

  • Financial services experience preferred.

  • Excellent writing skills, including the use of AP Style.

  • Experience creating and implementing communications plans.

  • Ability to build both strategic and tactical plans that drive perceptions, deliver key messages and get results.

  • Familiarity with a wide variety of communication channels, techniques and emerging technologies, with a natural curiosity that leads to continuous improvement.

  • Proven exceptional strategic, written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to persuade and motivate action.

  • Work location in Frederick, Maryland.

  • Writing and digital communications samples will be required.
