Actalent Quality Lab Analyst in Franklin Park, Illinois

Job Description:

The Lab Analyst is responsible for chemical, physical, and sensorial evaluation of finished product, in-process products, packaging, and raw material samples. They will coordinate with Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure all materials are compliant with Food Safety and Quality Standards.

Responsibilities include:

Ensuring that all chemical-physical methods meet requirements, with the support of the Laboratory Supervisor.

Responsible for both chemical and physical and packaging laboratory operation regarding GLPs, including equipment monitoring and calibration.

Aseptically sample incoming raw materials and prep for internal and external testing. Sample incoming packaging materials as needed.

Maintain internal control protocols by record keeping, troubleshooting, and escalating issues.

Perform chemical-physical testing in the laboratory and work to develop new methods for in-house testing.

Provide support to the facility to facilitate the implementation, maintenance, and audit of good manufacturing practices (GMP).

Actively support and participate in facility’s Total Quality effort, including Quality Policy and factory objectives.

Provide support to the facility’s continuous improvement program. Continuously strive to improve customer/supplier relationships and business processes.

Responsible to have safe work instructions available for all positions, processes are run in accordance with SOP’s, SOPP’s and other documentation. All employees have the required level of safety training, all equipment and installations are well maintained with safety guards & devices and associates are using the appropriate PPE.

Assure any activities performed with an environmental impact are communicated and accomplished according to the environmental management system.

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or other Science Based Degree.

6mon- 3 years of experience working in an industry lab setting. Would consider if education and practice from University are equivalent.

Knowledge with chemical-physical lab procedures and techniques including titrations, wet chemistry, and pipetting.

Experience working in a production environment and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HAACP strongly preferred.

Understanding of basic Microbiology is preferred.

Experience with SAP ERP system is an asset.

Additional Qualifications:

Ability to work independently and problem solve

Communication skills and ability to relay technical information to different departments

Comfortable with production environment including going out to the production floor to gather samples and climbing stairs to test incoming raw materials from trucks.
