Beasley Flooring Products 1st Shift Essential Lumber Specialist in Franklin, North Carolina

POSITION: Lumber Specialist - Utility/Nester Job description -An essential lumber specialist completes the following duties on a daily basis: Essential Functions: Puttier:
  • Must be willing to learn Filled Character grade rules to determine if flooring coming to station has character that requires filling
  • Will fill defects and remove excess putty from bevels
  • Responsible for maintaining putty knife and container
  • Responsible for learning the color of putty to be used for different species
  • Visually keeps check on machine belts, bearings, chains, feed roll, etc. for signs of wear or unusual noise
  • Must be willing to learn and understand the Wood Eye numbering system

Nester:

  • Build packs neatly and correctly
  • Place bottom boards down in the bottom of the empty nesting jig
  • Raise table to top height via hand controls - ensuring associates, material and/or tools are not in danger
  • Build panels to width specification to make flat and full layers
  • Lower table via hand controls as layers are added
  • Putty defects in lumber as needed
  • Remove defective material from the process and place in rework cart

Stacker:

  • Responsible for learning the difference between board widths
  • Catch and transfer all narrow strips to waste conveyor, and stack like widths together in the correct bins
  • Responsible for ensuring packs are square and stable

Other Duties:

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Perform all other duties as requested by Supervisor

Physical/Safety Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, squat, reach, and stoop several times a day
  • Must be able to stand for 10 hours a day
  • Must be able to lift 1-10 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day (handling materials)
  • Must be able to visualize defects in the product while material is moving
  • Must be able to safely work around moving machinery and focus on the importance of hand safety
  • Must be able to work in industrial environment with elevated noise levels, dust, dirt, humidity and temperature variation
