Department: Z Chef's Cafe

Position: Culinary Assistant

Reports To: Chef de Cuisine---Z Chef's Cafe

Function: The daily food production based on the quantities by the Production Chef.  Maintaining the safety and sanitation of the area.

Work Performed:

  1. Food preparation in the proper quantities of the specified quality, and production of the items daily. The proper utilization of "waste" foods as directed by First Cook.
  2. The "hands-on" production of foods for the area (quantities established by Production Chef) both cold and hot, adhering to the recipes and procedures established by Zehnder's.
  3. Following the laws and codes set forth by the Michigan Department of Health & HACCP. Maintenance of a clean and sanitary work area.
  4. Adhering to the policies of Zehnder's and the law as they relate to employment and daily work duties.
  5. Daily communication with the First Cook on food production and other related business topics.
  6. Attend meetings required or suggested to inform or improve the area.
  7. Help, as directed, in the display of the food products in the hot/cold units in the public area.
  8. Participation in the "food is theater" philosophy when requested by the Head Chef.
  9. Other duties as requested by the Production Chef or Head Chef and as necessitated by the evolution of the area.
  10. Any reasonable task/duty to help improve/maintain Food and Beverage team relations.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Work in high volume environment.

Educational Requirements:

Other Requirements: Able to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays. Able to communicate well orally and in writing. 

Age Requirement: Must be 16 years of age or older.
