Honeywell Measurement and Verification Energy Engineer (MVS) - Federal in Framingham, Massachusetts

Honeywell Building Solutions is looking for a Measurement and Verification Specialist (MVS) for Federal, PHA and West regions ESP contracts. This is a great position to showcase your talents in a highly visible role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and Support M&V activities for ESPC (Energy Saving Performance Contracts) for Federal, Public Housing (PHA) and public projects in the West region.

  • Development & implementation of Measurement & Verification (M&V) plans for ESPC projects.

  • Help estimate M&V cost at different levels of performance contracts.

  • Coordinate M&V activities with Energy Analyst (EA), M&V Risk Specialist, Solution Development Engineer (SDE), Project Construction Manager (PM), design and commissioning engineers during proposal, energy audit, design, construction and commissioning periods.

  • Participate in data collection and performance verification of retrofitted equipment.

  • Communicate with Energy Management System on a regular basis and perform a) building energy trend data analysis, b) observe system operation, c) check data quality and c) determine performance related problems. d) work with the customer to see if O&M issues affect the performance of the installed ECMs.

  • Create Annual Savings Reports (ASRs) and Quarterly Performance Reports (QPRs) for the building under the program and make sure that all reports are sent out before the due dates.

  • Work with Honeywell O&M team to identify and solve system deficiencies identified through these QPRs and system analysis.

  • Conduct and participate in customer meetings regarding M&V and O&M. Provide necessary input to answer customer concerns and questions.

  • Conduct performance period M&V activities including any on-site data collection, witnessing requirements and other

  • M&V support functions as required by the contract.

  • Work very closely with the monitoring team to solve data communication, data quality and other data issues at the FDA White Oak Campus.

  • Modify Energy Management System control programs as required to achieve desired comfort and efficiency of operation.

  • Analyze energy management control system’s operation, sequences and trend data for system optimization and compliance to the M&V plan.

  • Identify hardware and other data related issues during performance phase and work with the control subcontractors to solve the issues.

  • Perform the assigned duties with minimal supervision, but also work in a team problem-solving environment.

  • Review building or campus energy systems baselines and develop baseline adjustments based on site reviews.

  • Make recommendations to Sales, SDE and PM teams for additional opportunities, improved customer support and assist

  • in contract retention strategies.

  • Determine and forecast shortfall payouts.

  • Notify stakeholders of potential savings shortfall, coordinate form of guaranteed shortfall makeup, and closeout

  • customer receipt/acceptance of annual performance period.

  • Assist in any shortfall mitigation activities.

  • Maintain all customer records related to energy performance contracts.

  • Prepare savings performance analysis, reporting and/or presentations for customers. Educate customer on the results.

  • Resolve customer issues and avoid litigation through problem resolution and negotiation.

  • This position will have diverse accountability for multiple customers at various locations.

  • This position will require travel 25% of the time.

  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.

The salary range for this position is $97,600 - $135,000. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.

You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and 3 years of HVAC &/or Building Controls &/or ESPC experience, or in lieu of a college degree, 2-year technical degree and 5 years of similar experience, or in lieu of a degree, 7 years on site, hands on, engineering, operations or troubleshooting experience for controls systems or HVAC equipment.

  • Some experience in BMS for remote accessing, setting data trends and date collection.

  • 3 years’ experience in Engineering and energy savings calculations for performance contracting required.

  • 3 years knowledge of M&V protocols and guidelines (like FEMP and IPMVP).

  • Must be a United States Citizen to gain access to the Customer site.

Advanced Excel, Word, SQL, Access, Outlook, specifically interpreting M&V report requirements into complex macro-enabled graphs & tabular output.

  • Experience with building energy simulation software programs such as Trane Trace, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, etc.

  • Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is desirable.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed team environment with a win-win orientation.
