DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will be responsible for providing professional counseling services and casework management to inmates at your assigned Institution. You will conduct individual counseling and casework services and offer assistance in obtaining information regarding employment opportunities and community resources. Your vital role will include developing, maintaining, and presenting records and reports for managing an inmate caseload. In addition, you will have opportunity to participate in parole planning and offer recommendations on re-entry services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (40-hour work week) Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $61,903.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a Corrections Counselor 1 (commonwealth title); or One year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility, and a bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility and 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.

Special Requirement:

You must must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.
