Building Materials Trader

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Division / Department: Lumber & Building Materials

Reporting to position: Product Sales Manager

Travel: Approx. 25%

About the Role:

This position is responsible for servicing Do it Best Corp. members in a specific sales trading area selling many key categories in Building Materials. The Building Materials Trader will help our members source and sell building material products in their markets through education, locating resources/products, negotiating pricing/programs for our pro dealer members. They will collaborate in a team atmosphere to support other traders and category specialists.

If you have any prior experience working in any of the following fields, we strongly encourage you to apply: forest products industry, commodity trading, or lumber trading Building Materials Sales, Outside Sales, Flooring Sales, Hardware Sales, Customer Service

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting our members to achieve their goals in the category of Building Materials

  • Increasing member sales in their market through education, resourcing product, negotiated price/program, and understanding market demands.

  • Maximize the profitability of a trading area, to return the highest dividend to our members

  • Representing Do it Best Corp at bi-annual market conventions and dealer locations

  • Attending meetings at member and/or vendor locations as required.

  • Staying current on market trends, skills, market pricing and product knowledge

  • Various projects as assigned by sales, product, or division manager.

    Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience

  • Prior sales experience

  • Preferred knowledge of & exposure to the lumber and building materials industry

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong presentation ability

  • Proven selling solutions strategies

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, owners, and vendors
