Building Materials Divisional Purchasing Manager

Division / Department: Lumber & Building Materials (LBM)

Reporting to position: VP of LBM

Travel: 30%

About the Role:

We are seeking a forward-thinking Purchasing Manager to lead our Building Materials division. In this pivotal role, you will focus on managing a program-driven and long-term strategic procurement process. Your leadership will be essential in developing and maintaining sustainable, strategic supplier relationships and ensuring a steady, cost-effective supply chain that aligns with our long-term goals. This position requires a strategic thinker who can manage not just the day-to-day purchasing activities, but also envision and plan for the future needs of the division, ensuring alignment with Do it Best Corp.’s overall mission.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that reflect the long-term objectives of the Building Materials division.

  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements that benefit the company in the long term.

  • Track and partner with sales to ensure that all strategic vendor incentives are achieved on an annual or otherwise established basis.

  • Monitor market trends to understand long-term impacts on supply and demand..

  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast long-term needs and manage inventory effectively.

  • Promote a culture of strategic thinking and continuous improvement within the purchasing team.

    Education and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within purchasing in the building materials industry.

  • Strong understanding of long-term procurement strategies and supply chain management.

  • A commitment to ethical, sustainable procurement practices.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and G-suite.
