  • Supervise, train, support, and manage the Service Desk and Writing Center staff.
  • Oversee the day-to-day Service Desk operations, which includes opening and closing, assignment of daily tasks, and taking action to deal with disruptive or problem patrons.
  • Facilitate advisor and instructor referrals and alerts for students in need of Writing Center services.
  • Performs circulation tasks which includes: working at the service desk, working in the library stacks, making referrals and scheduling appointments for librarians and the Writing Center, and providing general support for patrons.
  • Answer directional and mid-level reference questions.
  • Coordinate with university departments and faculty to receive and return materials.
  • Assist with the marketing, selection, and training of Writing Center consultants and Service Desk student employees.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers, faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate with business team to process payments, address, and resolve applicable library fees.

  • Bachelors degree.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Able to manage day-to-day operations within a department or area.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate and quickly adapt to a changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to take initiative to solve problems to improve efficiency.
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
