POSITION: Forensic Counselor

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full -Time (FT)

POSITION SUMMARY: This position works with the criminal justice population and provides mental health and substance use treatment, linkage to Case Management (CM) services, and release coordination for inmates identified as having mental health needs during detention within the Okaloosa County jail. This position provides individual and group counseling services, teaches strategies for living substance-free, and establishes a relapse prevention plan as part of a long-term approach to recovery.

The clients served in this program have various criminogenic, social, and psychiatric needs, which are addressed through coordination between Bridgeway Center, Inc. (BCI) Forensic Counselors, Correctional Officers, and other external agencies.

The applicant selected for this position must be comfortable routinely working alone and be able to manage the clients on the unit.

The Forensic Program is funded by revenue appropriated by the State of Florida and Okaloosa County, and your employment is contingent upon continued funding of this program.

[MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:]{#_Hlk49756384} Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Spanish-speaking or Bilingual applicants are a plus, but not required.

Applicant must be able to pass an Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) Medicaid and Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level II background check, drug screen, and a Tuberculosis (TB) test. Applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and have a valid Florida Driver's License with no more than three (3) points on their driving record to be insured under BCI's automobile insurance policy.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide psychosocial rehabilitation groups. 2.Provide Substance Use (SU) groups. 3.Provide daily living support to individuals in a pilot shelter program. 4.Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and communicate appropriately with referral sources. 5.Conduct transition and discharge planning 6.Provide individuals with linkages to other supportive social services 7.Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)

SHIFT:Floating Shift - Will be required to work any of thefollowing shifts:

Day Shift - 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.;

Swing Shift - 2:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.; OR

Evening Shift - 10:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m. OR 9:00 p.m. to7:00 a.m.

Weekends and Holidays are Required
