ABF Freight Payroll Operations Specialist I in Fort Smith, Arkansas

Currently, we are looking for a Payroll Operations Specialist I to join the ArcBest team. The Payroll Operations Specialist I processes the compensation for contractual and non-contractual hourly employees. This position also ensures hourly employees are compensated in accordance with all applicable labor contracts, federal and state wage and hour laws, and company policy. The Payroll Operations Specialist I works on on-going challenges due to the time-sensitive nature of processing various payroll schedules and requires some flexibility when working around payroll holiday schedules.

Your contribution may include:

  • Process the compensation for the hourly paid employees, including utility drivers under the NMFA.

  • Interpret various labor contracts and assist in making decisions concerning the payment of hourly wages.

  • Assist field personnel in the use of the Labor Management system and the process of reviewing exception reports.

  • Mail and distribute payroll.

  • Assist Service Center Managers, operations supervisors and field payroll clerks in the collection of time and attendance data and absentee records for accurate payroll calculations and health, welfare and pension benefit payments.

  • Approve paid time off for hourly employees.

  • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

    As a Payroll Operations Specialist I, you will be a member of the ArcBest ABF Payroll team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

    Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred. Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

    Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and 10-Key.
