The Maintenance Lead supports the execution of line performance in assigned area utilizing continuous improvement tools and processes. This position will work as a team with the Line Leader on process improvements to the line and the implementation of the continuous improvement system/s and standards to the plant. The Maintenance Lead is expected to develop the operating teams’ technical understanding and mastery of process control. He/she is the Preventative Maintenance system owner for their lines. Reinforces Safety, Teamwork, and Continuous Improvement as a business imperative and supports implementation of QCDSM ideas/suggestions for department, equipment and system design.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Technical:

  • Utilize Maintenance Windows to coordinate routine and non-routine activities on assigned equipment in order to ensure safety, product quality and optimum line efficiency. Work across shifts and functions as needed to effectively operate as a team

  • Owns Preventative Maintenance systems for the assigned area, focusing on ongoing development of preventative maintenance plan, defect handling (in support of AM) breakdown elimination, and scheduling of Maintenance Windows.

  • Supports development and leads portions of area’s 90-day loss elimination plan

  • Coaches and develops shift teams by serving as technical coach and resource

  • Actively participates in Line DDS meetings and execution of the daily plan

  • Must be able to write clear and concise presentations and communications

  • Utilize the CMMS system to document maintenance activities, order parts, schedule and develop work orders.

Leadership:

  • Maintain a good working relationship with associates on all shifts, while supporting plant and departmental goals and vision

  • Coaching Skills: Must be able to comfortably coach other employees on continuous improvement processes and systems

  • Problem Solving Skills: Must be able to solve complex problems

  • Communication Skills: Maintenance Lead will work with all levels of employees and management. They must be capable of preparing and giving individual and group presentations.

  • Organization Skills: must manage multiple tasks across multiple shifts

  • Drives breakthrough results in Planned and Unplanned downtime, and owns:

  • M&R cost for line

  • % planned maintenance and % PM’s complete

  • Breakdown reduction

  • Conform to all Kraft Heinz policies and procedures

  • Perform Sanitation and Housekeeping Activities and validate effectiveness

  • Report and correct unsafe acts and conditions. Recommend corrective action when necessary

  • This position also has accountability for QRMP standards as outlined in the Fort Smith, AR QRMP accountability document.

  • Support plant Quality, high performance culture and continuous improvement programs through active participation in QRMP and plant productivity programs.

  • Comply and actively participate in all safety, environmental, policies, procedures and programs.

  • Serve as relief coordinator or operator as needed.

  • Perform area housekeeping duties as necessary.

  • Perform all tasks as assigned by supervisor.

  • Management reserves the right, as it deems necessary to assign jobs on a temporary basis in any manner that supports efficient plant operations.

Basic or minimum Qualifications/Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Minimum of two years of experience in industrial maintenance

  • Own/provide own basic tools, specialty tools provided by plant.

  • Computer Skills: Must have strong computer and data entry skills. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP software preferred.

  • Person must be able to perform and train self/others on basic mechanical skills, mechanical repairs and overhauls, maintenance systems, computer skills, new technologies in preventive/predictive maintenance, problem solving/troubleshooting, etc. where skills are not at the required level

  • Demonstrate good communication skills, both written and oral

  • Must gain Powered Industrial Truck licensed and follow all safety rules and procedures

  • Must be willing to travel as required-very minimal

  • All other duties as assigned in order to support efficient plant operations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to walk, stand and sit for the duration of shift

  • Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, sorting, and reaching to both ground level and overhead

  • Ascend/Descend stairs and ladders throughout shift

  • Lift up to up to 50 pounds independently, and heavier weights with assistance

  • Holds and grips objects

  • Able to give and understand instructions and hold conversations in manufacturing environment, as well as an office or classroom setting

  • Must possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, disassemble and reassemble equipment, operate a computer and other standard office equipment
