Florida SouthWestern State College is accepting resumes in search of a Professor, Student Life Skills in the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to join our team of exceptional faculty. As an FSW faculty member, you have the opportunity to directly impact the college mission to inspire our students to 'Dedicate to Graduate'.

The School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences supports all degree and certificate programs of study offered at FSW. Through a broad curriculum, the SoAHSS provides high-quality teaching and learning experiences that are accessible and affordable and prepares students to achieve the majority of their general education competencies. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the Cornerstone Experience (SLS 1515) course. The Cornerstone Experience is a requirement for First Time in College (FTIC) students. Candidates will be responsible for teaching a course designed to help students successfully transition to college life and become self-reliant learners who use critical thinking to achieve academic and career success.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Doctoral or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline).

  • Successful experience teaching first-time and first-generation in college students, including adult learners.

  • Demonstrated ability to use technology in creating and delivering course content.

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught and currency in the discipline (eg. experience in one or more of the following areas: first-year student success, learning styles and strategies, instructional methodologies, critical thinking, social interaction and diversity, goal-setting and time management, financial management, and career planning)

Salary Range: $51,207.89 – $60,762.46 (for two terms): the maximum salary is based on a doctorate education level and 10 years of verifiable full-time teaching experience. Salary will be determined at the hire date.
