Title: Performance Tester

Location: Fort Mills, SC/Austin, TX (Onsite)

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to design and implement performance test strategies for both new and existing applications.

  • Develop and maintain performance test scripts and scenarios to accurately simulate real-world usage patterns and stress conditions.

  • Execute performance tests on a regular basis, analyzing results to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

  • Work closely with software architects and engineers to optimize application performance through code refactoring, configuration changes, and infrastructure enhancements.

  • Provide guidance and recommendations for performance tuning and optimization efforts based on thorough analysis of system behavior under load.

  • Participate in capacity planning exercises to ensure that applications can scale to meet future demand without sacrificing performance.

  • Document performance testing processes, methodologies, and results for internal knowledge sharing and reference.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in performance testing and engineering, incorporating new tools and techniques as appropriate.

  • Mentor junior members of the performance testing team, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and expertise.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on performance testing and engineering, providing guidance and support to other teams as needed.

  • Serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating performance test results into actionable insights for decision-making.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the performance testing practice, identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, and efficiency gains.

  • Proactively identify risks and issues related to performance testing activities, escalating as needed to ensure timely resolution and mitigation.

  • Participate in post-mortem reviews of performance incidents and outages, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures for future occurrences.

  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers to assess the performance impact of external dependencies and integrations.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively detect and address performance issues in production environments.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technical role delivering Performance Engineering Solutions.

  • Strong communication skills, able to effectively communicate ideas and technical concepts to both technical and executive audiences.

  • Must have performance testing experience with public cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or GCP.

  • Should have good hands-on experience simulating real time prod load using tools like JMeter, BlazeMeter etc.

  • Hands-on experience in building robust performance test suites in JMeter/BlazeMeter.

  • Should have strong experience using APM tools like Dynatrace/AppDynamics.

  • Should possess deep dive skills to find the potential root cause of API performance issues across different layers, messaging queues, DB and offer optimizing solutions to stakeholders.

  • Implement CI/CD for Performance as part of the End-to-End Enterprise Pipeline.

  • Experience with DevOps / Orchestration Tools --> Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker.

  • Test and Analyse performance, and work with cross functional teams to identify bottlenecks across multiple layers of the system and their root cause, impacts on Production infrastructure.

  • Should have batch performance testing and tuning experience.

  • Should have basic knowledge on key performance engineering concepts like CPU, GC, Memory Profiling, SQL Query and SPROC.

  • Must be efficient and flexible to work with multiple teams across different locations and time zones.

  • Must be able to work in fast paced Agile environment and give project updates on daily stand up.

  • Good to have service emulation/virtualization knowledge, mobile performance engineering and SRE experience.
