Fort Madison Community School District IT Support Specialist in Fort Madison, Iowa

IT Support Specialist

This position is 12 months and reports to the Director of Technology. You will provide end user support district wide for hardware, software and related equipment issues. Primary contact for all helpdesk activity in assigned buildings as well as other district locations as directed. The IT Support Specialist will work in tandem with building staff and the IT Department as a whole to focus their efforts towards minimizing end user downtime and making sure technology is running smoothly.

Qualifications: Associate's Degree with Information Technology focus plus relevant work experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Have excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Be prompt, able to meet deadlines and able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Proficient overall with technology and comfortable learning new skills quickly.
  • Answer and respond to phone calls/emails/tickets for the department.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be a friendly and welcoming representative of the technology department.
  • Promote a positive attitude while showing professionalism and respect when interacting with staff, students, and parents and the greater community while fulfilling the duties of the position.
  • Will attend meetings, activities, workshops and training sessions as needed.
  • Support the mission of the Fort Madison Community School District.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software/network connectivity issues addressing them in a timely fashion.
  • Provide direct support for a diverse user base in a Windows and Google 1:1 environment.
  • Basic desktop/laptop/Chromebook/IPad repair work.
  • Basic wired/wireless network troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and related tools.
  • Experience with multiple iterations of Windows OS.
  • Familiarity with Windows imaging and device deployment.
  • Classroom technology installation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with VOIP systems and related troubleshooting.
  • Basic printer/copier troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable working with various SIS/CMS/LMS products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
