City Of Fort Lupton Public Works Maintenance Worker (Sewer) in Fort Lupton, Colorado

Starting pay range: $22.50 - $27.00 per hour

Under general supervision of the Public Works Sewer Supervisor. Performs a variety of customer service and preventative maintenance duties in the maintenance of City public infrastructure and property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. Assist in installing, maintaining and repairing sanitary sewer lines Assists in installing, maintaining and repairing storm drainage system. Repairs, install, replace all components of the City's collection system. Performs inspections on equipment and vehicles for such things fluid levels, leaks, condition of hoses and belts, tire pressure, brake lights and related areas. Secures, cleans and cares for all basic tools and equipment needed for job assignments. Responds to requests and inquiries from customers of sewer utilities and from the public. Direct and control traffic around work sites as needed Work on-call, overtime and holidays as required by supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist skilled trade workers in performing various projects. Operate, clean and care for all basic tools and equipment needed for job assignment Ensures that the surface infrastructure is kept in a safe and usable condition, repair and maintenance for streets, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and any other surface infrastructure for which the City is responsible. Perform seasonal street maintenance duties such as snow plowing, salting and sanding, removing snow and ice from sidewalks, steps, seats and ramps from drives of City facilities. Install, repair and/or replace right-of-way signage Repairs, installs and replaces asphalt and concrete roadways and maintains all City owned gravel roads and alleys. Repair, install, replace and maintenance of fire hydrants, water meter, vaults, water pumps, water distribution lines and water valves. Locates mains and installations for crew and contractors. Repair and service main water lines. Repairs, install, replace all components of the City's distribution system. Operate, clean and maintain equipment such as backhoe, front-end loader and single and tandem axle dump truck Performs Meter reading Perform exterior maintenance duties for the cemetery including, excavation of gravesites, burial process and installation of tombstones Updates logs and maps of locations of utility lines and of cuts in asphalt paving.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Demonstrate basic maintenance practices with water, sewer and streets. Knowledge of methods, techniques and tools used in construction maintenance or related facilities. Display operation of a wide variety of equipment and tools used in public works maintenance, repair and construction in a safe and effective manner. Demonstrate understanding of Departmental rules, policies and procedures. Ability to work effectively with other staff and public.

Qualifications and Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Colorado Class "B" Driver's License at time of application or within 6 months of hire. Certified Flagger, or ability to obtain within 1 year from date of hire.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS: Bi-lingual in Spanish. One-year experience in public works maintenance or related field, preferred. One-year experience operating heavy machinery such as backhoes and street sweepers. One-year experience repairing water and sewer lines. Ability to obtain Water distribution and sewer collection tech 1 certifications within 2 years from date of hire.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Perform physical requirement of walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, crawling, bending and climbing for extended periods of time. Lift/carry up to 60 lbs. frequently and occasionally lift/carry ov r 100 lbs. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Exposure to noise, confined workspaces, chemicals, dust, and mechanical and electrical hazards.
