Vectrus Bus Driver Lead in Fort Liberty, North Carolina

The Bus Driver Lead at the Fort Liberty Transportation Motor Pool, is responsible for training Bus Drivers on base routes, tracking Bus Drivers credentials, to include overseeing the safe transporting of passengers and baggage to locations in and around the Fort Liberty / Pope Army Airfield area of operation.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION NOT TO EXCEED SEPTEMBER 30, 2024.

Responsibilities

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and technical assistance to drivers in the performance of day-to-day activities

  • Ensures drivers follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Responsible for driver schedules and verifies actual hours worked by personnel

  • Ensures drivers complete all credentialing tasks in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT), North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) and Vectrus safety and licensing requirements

  • Plans and directs personnel and required resources for day to day mission support

  • Attends or provides briefings and reports as directed or required

  • Performs before/during/after, operator level operations and safety equipment checks/inspections

  • Ensures all safety equipment is on-hand and serviceable

  • Drives passengers and baggage in and around the Fort Liberty and Pope Army Airfield area of operations

  • Assist passengers with baggage

  • Ensures that passenger travel is safe and timely

  • Work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays; and works overtime as required

  • Performs other duties as assigned per team supervisor to meet organizational/operational objectives

  • Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • One (1) year of progressively responsible related experience, or any combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job

  • Demonstrates professionalism, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have a valid State commercial driver’s license Class A or B with a passenger endorsement.

  • Current Medical Examiner’s certificate and/or medical variance documents (i.e. Vision, Skills Performance or Diabetic waivers, or other exemptions)

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Must have a clear driving record.

  • Specific contractual requirements regarding education and experience prevail where applicable.

  • Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Liberty Military Installation

    Skills and Experience:

  • 1-year of related job experience, preferred

  • Effective organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills

  • Customer service experience is preferred.

  • Proficient in MicroSoft Suite, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
