Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Aircraft Mechanic Level 2 (AM-II) shall possess a level of experience necessary to perform airframes and powerplants-related maintenance on five aircraft assigned to the US Army Parachute Team (USAPT), Golden Knights Aviation Detachment. Efforts are centered on maintaining two C-147A (DeHavill and Dash 8-315) and three UV-18C (Viking DHC-6-400 Twin Otter) aircraft and associated components in industrial (Hangar and Flight line areas). The AM-II Mechanics shall be able to provide expertise and perform the responsibilities of an AMII and lower levels of competency described in DOL standards for the aircraft mechanic series.

  • Troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, hydraulic, engines, ventilation, and heating systems.

  • Repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structure and/or components: Wings, fuselage, and functional components including engines, propellers, rigging, surface controls, and hydraulic systems, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and provided equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, rivet gun and drills.

  • Reading and interpreting manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and wiring schematics to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

  • Using chemical sealants and petroleum products.

  • Requisitioning repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military and commercial supply systems.

  • Performing other tasks as directed by Lead Mechanics.

  • AM-II must possess a current FAA Aircraft & Powerplant license/certificate (A&P).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting Aircraft Systems

  • Airplane general taskings i.e., tow, jack, Scheduled Maintenance

  • Assisting other Mechanics in daily tasks

  • Misc. training and corporate requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Certifications/Licenses:

  • Current FAA Aircraft & Powerplant license/certificate (A&P).

  • Valid State Driver’s License.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of Military Fixed Wing Experience (or civilian equivalent) and/or 5 years of Military Rotary Wing Experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Possess U.S. Security Public Trust/NACI (Tier 1) Clearance (preferred)

  • Some travel will be required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience:

  • Strong Avionics background.

  • Working knowledge of US Army Aircraft forms and records (DA PAM 738-751) and familiar with FAA FAR Part 43.

  • Dash 8-100/200/300.

  • DHC-6-300/400.

Skills & Technology Used

  • Familiar with Aircraft Notebook ACN system (Desired).

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).

  • Familiar with personal computers, printers, copy machine and other general office equipment.
