Jacobs ITS Network Deployment Technician - Pompano Beach, FL in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Jacobs is looking for an ITS Network Deployment Technician to join our collaborative team in Pompano Beach, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring, troubleshooting and maintaining network infrastructure that supports business operations. This position will work with management and staff to identify system needs as well as improve and maintain existing infrastructure and related documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting and analysis of connectivity and bandwidth issues

  • Maintain configuration files and documentation for all network infrastructure

  • Meticulous skill in wire management, labeling, remote site installations

  • Support and troubleshoot layer 2 networks of significant size and complexity

  • Perform regular updates to network management system

  • Act as a key point of contact for system outages, changes, inquiries and requests

  • Support the business operations with prompt, effective problem resolution

  • Participate in a On-Call rotation

  • Associates degree in Computer Science / Management Information Systems, a computer related degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum two years experience deploying network hardware.

  • Prior experience working with Cisco IOS and Ruckus/Brocade

  • Prior experience performing OTDR testing and fiber certification is preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Must have the ability to travel to all owned facilities for deployments and investigation.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to walk on uneven terrain and access areas on slopes.

Ideally, here’s what you will also have:

  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Network* Prior experience with routing as well as working knowledge of port security, mapping, spanning tree and intrusion prevention
