The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies is looking for a Cagewash and Glassware Support Technician to support our government customer located in Fort Detrick, Maryland.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate will provide glassware services that include, but not limited to, receiving, cleaning, sanitizing, sterilizing, drying and storing all Institute glassware. Additionally, candidate will assist with Cagewash duties that include, but not limited to, changing of bedding, washing and sanitizing cages; and autoclaving equipment, feed bedding, water and other materials and supplies.

  • Receive, unpack, clean, sterilize, dry and store all Institute glassware using provided equipment.

  • Perform operator maintenance on equipment.

  • Maintain glassware area free of dirt and debris and dispose of waste.

  • Maintain an inventory of glassware on hand.

  • Maintain records of the temperatures for each assigned autoclave load.

  • Use and record any bacteriological monitoring required for autoclave, cagewash or glassware equipment.

  • Document and support Quality Assurance programs associated with glassware processing.

  • Change bedding, wash and sanitize cages; and autoclave equipment, feed, bedding, water and other materials and supplies.

  • Maintain a same-day cage washing service.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of all animal equipment.

    REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    High School Diploma

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Ability to receive, unpack, clean, sterilize, dry and store all Institute glassware using provided equipment.

  • Ability to perform operator maintenance on equipment.

  • Ability to maintain glassware area free of dirt and debris and dispose of waste.

  • Ability to maintain an inventory of glassware on hand.

  • Ability to maintain records of the temperatures for each assigned autoclave load.

    DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) experience.

  • Autoclave experience.

  • Experience with cage or rack style washers.

    REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a NACI clearance.
