POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer directs product quality through inspections and advising on improvements. This role will be the primary trainer on critical tasks, monitor DMR rates, and work with engineering and the quality department to reduce loss from the manufacturing process. Identifying training opportunities for manufacturing efficiency and quality and working with the line supervisor and engineering to implement improvements. This role will be part of the transfer team bringing hybrids from R&D to manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all products to determine areas for improvement.

  • Supervise final inspections to ensure all products are meeting or exceeding quality specifications.

  • Interface with quality department to evaluate quality metrics of manufacturing lines and convey to line supervisor and engineering.

  • Spearhead new product transfers from R&D and identify training for implementation into manufacturing.

  • Work with engineering for deployment of new product manufacturing to other sites.

  • Identify inefficiency in manufacturing activities, make them into tasks, prepare a plan to improve, and contribute to cost optimization and productivity.

  • Define the evaluation procedure for the manufacturing process and operate according to the established rules.

  • Monitor product quality data, identify and address factors driving negative warranty trends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in an ISO 7 clean room manufacturing environment

  • Location: Fort Collins, Colorado – on site

  • Global travel expected approximately 10%

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross functional teams.

  • Knowledge of quality specifications and DMR process.

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem-solving methodologies, and risk assessment.

  • Robust experience and utilization of SAP.

  • Adept in formulating, writing and approving QMS documentation regarding process and test.

  • Familiarity with equipment used in micro-electronics to include hand soldering, vacuum reflow, acoustical sonography, wire bonding, and CT scanning.

  • Electrical theory and application a plus in design and understanding of micro-electronics.

  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, to includeGeometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Demonstrable examples of functioning within and leading a high performing team.

  • Ability to focus on prevention, timely issue resolution, and competency development within a team.

  • Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Operations Management System (OMS), work instructions.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 to 5+ years’ experience in micro-electronics manufacturing and R&D.

  • Demonstrated experience in building, training to build and inspection of micro-electronics in high mix low volume environments.

  • Knowledge of and the mentality associated with operating a cleanroom and upholding the standard of that, preferably ISO 7 or greater.

  • Expected background in planning of life cycle electrical components and associated consumables and perishables.

EDUCATION:

  • BS degree (engineering degree preferred)

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $75,000.00 USD to $95,000.00 USD per year.
