The Preventative Maintenance Mechanical Worker MDVS performs commercial cleaning of the Mechanical Dryer Venting System (MDVS) and duct systems to prevent fire hazards due to lint and debri build-up in support of facility sustainment services.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial grade air duct cleaning system and associated hand tools.

  • Clean dryer duct systems to National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) standards in order to reduce appliance malfunction and failures.

  • Clean Convergence Ducts and Plenums IAW NADCA standards

  • Operate a ½ ton pick-up truck.

  • Use prescribed procedures and checklists.

  • Inspect equipment and components for serviceability, report deficiencies.

  • Upon completion of cleaning, ensure equipment is on and functional.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) years of field experience maintaining industrial or commercial Mechanical Dryer Venting or HVAC ducting sytems.

  • Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) certification - Preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possess good organization and communication skills, as well as maturity and ability to deal with all levels of people, both inside and outside the company.

  • Knowledge of a full range of work involved in the preventative maintenance, and servicing of industrial and commercial Mechanical Dryer Venting or HVAC duct systems.

  • Knowledge of various types of duct cleaning equipment.

  • Knowledge of Mechanical Dryer Venting System configuration.

  • The ability to read blueprints, schematics and to use technical manuals, guide specifications,

  • Knowledge in the use of electric schematics and blueprints associated with industrial utility

  • Industry experience in related shop mathematics and the interpretation and application of building plans, specifications, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and sketches of all complexity.
