Duties: Services, repairs and maintains all types of control valves by removing, disassembling, inspecting and replacing worn or broken parts, if necessary, then reassembling and reinstalling. Cuts, bends, and threads pipe, fitting valves and couplings to pipe sections by screwing, bolting, or soldering joints. Performs preventive maintenance on restrooms, water softeners, RO-DI pure water systems, pump stations, annual surveys (cathodic-gas leak) and related piping systems. Identifies and resolves plumbing problems by repairing or replacing pipes, fittings, valves, plugged drains, faucets, toilet repairs, repairs and cleans sewer pipes and clears clogged lines. Determines the proper materials to be used for the particular assignment at hand. Hooks up individual components such as sinks, drains, taps and related equipment. Installs, repairs and tests RP back flow prevention valves and vacuum breakers on equipment and double checks valves on all potable water connections as required. Performs assigned preventive maintenance checks on valves, pumps, eye washes and showers, water heaters, laboratory equipment, dilution tanks and other operating equipment. Maintain and repair medical gas systems such as oxygen, breathing air, patient vacuum, waste anesthetic vacuum, etc. Install, maintain and repair steam distribution systems used for humidification and sterilization. Ensures installations function properly and that work areas are left in proper condition Perform other duties as assigned.

Must have a current Colorado State Plumbing License as a Journeyman Plumber At least 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting and/or 3 years in a similarly complex commercial facility or institution. Must be able to obtain the Medical Gas Certification as defined by NFPA 99 and Certification as defined in ASSE 6040 and Backflow Preventer Maintenance Certifications as defined by the State of Colorado within 6 months. If the exam is not offered during the employee's six-month probation period, the employee must take the first available exam offered after their probation period. Preferred - NICET Level II Water based Certification.
