Overview

Under the supervision of the CMST Supervisor, performs a full range of work involved assembly, disassembly of military small arms and other infantry weapons including troubleshooting, repairs, service and inspections.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Determines the nature and extent of repairs required; disassembles and examines parts and assemblies for serviceability; replaces parts and assemblies as required.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions of small arms and crew served weapons.

  • Determines serviceability of parts; exercises initiative to maintain productive progress and accepts responsibility for the results.

  • Provide support to maintenance team to ensure satisfactory levels of customer service are maintained for internal and external customers.

  • Safely uses common hand-tools and shop equipment effectively without assistance.

  • Gunsmith II performs Technical Inspection on military small arms and other infantry weapons to determine serviceability and proper operation.

  • Uses automated Logistics Information System to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.

  • Diagnoses and determines remedies for failures commonly encountered in the repair of small arms weapons and other infantry weapons, with little or no supervision, using a variety of diagnostic techniques and practices.

  • Assists other employees in the proper repair maintenance procedures and capabilities of small arms maintenance and related TMDE. .

  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.

  • Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.

    WORKING ENVIROMENT:

  • A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week).

  • Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

    EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three (3) to six (6) years' of experience in Gunsmith field or an equivalent.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen. .

  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.

    SKILLS:

  • Must be proficient in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military weapons.

  • Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.

  • Working knowledge of GCSS-Army preferred.

  • Able to react to change productively and handle additional tasks as assigned

    INSTALLATION REQUIREMENT:

  • To be qualified for this position you must comply with the government customer’s requirement that you either provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, or agree to undergo and provide results of weekly COVID-19 testing.

  • As of now, to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 you must have received either two doses of Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine, two doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford Vaccine, two doses of Moderna Vaccine, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, and two weeks must have elapsed after the final dose was administered.

  • This definition may change in accordance with CDC guidelines.
