Community Health Systems Supervisor, Environmental Services in FLOWOOD, Mississippi

Job Summary

The Supervisor, Environmental Services oversees daily housekeeping operations to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the facility. This role supervises environmental services personnel, monitors cleaning procedures, and ensures compliance with infection control and safety standards. The Supervisor is responsible for staff training, quality assurance inspections, and operational efficiency to maintain high standards of cleanliness and patient satisfaction.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises environmental services staff, ensuring proper cleaning techniques, procedures, and safety standards are followed throughout the facility.

  • Identifies and implements the most effective and efficient technical procedures required to deliver high-quality cleaning services.

  • Conducts quality assurance inspections and follow-ups, documenting results and addressing deficiencies.

  • Provides orientation and on-the-job training for new and existing employees, reinforcing best practices in environmental services.

  • Monitors inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock and proper usage.

  • Ensures compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines to maintain a sanitary healthcare environment.

  • Assists in scheduling and coordinating housekeeping activities to optimize staff efficiency and coverage.

  • Collaborates with other departments to address cleaning concerns and ensure alignment with facility cleanliness standards.

  • Maintains records of cleaning procedures, staff performance, and quality control metrics for reporting and compliance purposes.

  • Addresses employee concerns, provides coaching, and supports professional development to enhance team performance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required

  • Associate Degree or coursework in Environmental Services, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, or facilities management required

  • 1-2 years in a supervisory role preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of environmental services operations, infection control protocols, and sanitation procedures.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, healthcare cleaning standards, and safety guidelines.

  • Proficiency in conducting quality assurance inspections and implementing corrective actions.

  • Ability to train and develop staff in proper cleaning techniques and best practices.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage daily operations efficiently.

  • Effective communication and leadership skills to supervise staff and collaborate with other departments.

  • Ability to maintain detailed records and reports related to cleaning operations and regulatory compliance.
