Basic Job Functions:

  • Leading and upholding safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards. Candidate must be committed to Safety, Environmental, Quality, Productivity and Profitability of the division.

  • Upholding safety practices, policies, and systems to monitor OSHA compliance to ensure division conformance, including Vulcraft and corporate regulations.

  • Strategically planning and executing improvements to our safe practices for operations and equipment along with establishing methods to enhance the working environment and culture.

  • Best-marking with other Nucor divisions to continually improve our safety practices.

  • Willingness to learn the management of change, incident investigations, metric records and reporting to OHSA and the corporate office and the divisions Safety Management System.

  • Responsible for all administrative tasks regarding OSHA mandated training and record keeping.

    Additional expectations: Candidate must be willing to travel with short notice. Must be willing to work flexible hours, (over 40) and to be on-call in emergency situations 24/7.

    Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Problem Solving & Judgment/Decision Making - Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to choose the most appropriate solution.

  • Attention to Detail - Thorough in reviewing and capturing information and applying it in order to accomplish tasks consistently and accurately and ensure that expectations are met.

Preferences:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Safety or related field, OR 2 years equivalent safety experience

  • EMT certification or higher

  • Prior leadership experience in a steel fabricating environment

  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards and safety regulatory compliance
