Responsible for running the day to day operations of underground utilities crew on a construction site. Directs a crew as a working foreman and performs skilled work and related work as required. May operate a variety of heavy construction equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Tracking and recording daily production of the crews and reporting back to the superintendent.

  • Inputting daily log books, time sheets and other job related paperwork.

  • Attend and facilitate coordination, production and safety meetings.

  • Communicate with onsite subcontractors, general contractors and/or owners.

  • Ensure job equipment and tools are maintained in good working order and are safe for use.

  • Participate in training and other forms of development to strengthen technical, safety and other skills.

  • Order and schedule equipment and material(s) deliveries as required.

  • Manage, supervise and coordinate onsite work crews.

  • Supervise installation and completion of work on time and budget.

  • Maintain a clean job site: ensure all tools and equipment are picked up and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.

  • Operate construction equipment as required.

  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent, Safety Director or HR Director as appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Have knowledge of and experience reading, understanding, and implementing drawings.

  • Good mathematical skills are required.

  • Must be competent with the use of a laser and transit.

  • Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to work with a variety of people at different levels.

  • Thorough knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy construction work.

  • Must be adaptable and able to work in a variety of conditions.

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions.

  • Excellent management skills are required to manage, lead and motivate employees.

  • Ability to work independently and direct daily activities of crew according to work schedule.

  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • Must have at least 2+ years of experience as an underground utility foreman.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; some college preferred.

  • Valid Class A or B CDL required.

  • OSHA certifications are a plus (30 hr training, trench shoring, confined space and first aid)

  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
