Hemphill Construction Company, Inc. Field Service Technician: Heavy Equipment in Florence, Mississippi
General Summary of the Position:
The Field Service Technician will provide heavy construction equipment for field and shop-based equipment. The incumbent will primarily be based in a field setting but may be required to work in a shop setting as needed. Perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor maintaining construction equipment, heavy trucks/trailers, vehicles, and other miscellaneous construction equipment owned by Hemphill Construction, Suncoast Infrastructure & MSI.

Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in construction equipment and heavy truck/trailer maintenance.
May be required to operate equipment to determine proper operation and safety functionality.
May be required to pressure wash/clean equipment.
Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
Maintains a clean service truck or service/shop area; pick up all tools and equipment and secure work area each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Service Manager, Equipment Manager, and/or Safety Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of proper use of tools, equipment, materials, and supplies used in construction equipment & heavy truck/trailer maintenance.
Knowledge of applicable safety precautions.
Knowledge of welding and use of cutting torches.
Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and air conditioning systems.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for extended periods of time, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Required Education, Training, and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Minimum of 5 years of service experience in the heavy equipment, truck, and automotive industry
Valid appropriate state driver’s license (general operator license); must be willing to obtain Class A CDL.
Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
Candidate must provide own tools
Will be required to work some weekends for “On Call” duty
