Mazak Corporation Automation Service Technician in Florence, Kentucky

Description

The Automation Service Technician is responsible for the proper installation and startup Mazak automated systems and equipment. These systems will be installed at customer location around North America. Common equipment would include robots, conveyors, vision systems, part marking systems, electrical cabinets and other equipment. Mazak Automation systems are typically unique customer defined systems engineered specifically to satisfy the customers needs around their Mazak CNC equipment. The purpose of the Mazak automated systems is to automate the flow of material through work cells consisting of Mazak CNC machines and other ancillary equipment. The Automation Service Technician will also be responsible for Installation, interfacing, testing and debugging the automation equipment.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

* Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees

* Install, debug and support Mazak automation systems.

* Train customers to use Mazak automation systems.

* Assist with developing automated machining systems at Mazak's Florence Kentucky headquarters and at customer locations around the U.S.

* Program and teach Fanuc, ABB and other robots.

* Install and service robots and common automation equipment like robot grippers, vision systems cell controllers, HMI's, PLC's, VFD's, cabling, safety fencing, conveyors, etc.

* Prepare customers plant floor for the installation of equipment working with riggers, electricians and other personnel as required.

* Make suggestions for changes and improvements as may be needed through field service activities and observations.

* Support the installation/testing/servicing of Mazak CNC's and their associated options.

Education/Certification:

* Military veteran with a technical training certificate or:

* Degree / certificate in mechanical or manufacturing or related type field from an accredited vocational school or:

* Associate degree in engineering technology or equivalent work experience

Skills:

* Mechanical and electrical controls aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

* Must be able to read and understand mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.

* PLC ladder logic (Allen Bradley/Siemens/Mitsubishi).

* Ability to communicate with engineering resources to resolve installation and startup issues.

* Able to utilize MS Office products such as Word, Excel, etc.

* Effective verbal and written communications skills.

* Willingness to travel. The work assignments are primarily at customer locations. Travel is expected to be 50% to 75%. Some travel to foreign countries may be required
