The Hertz Corporation Solution Architect - Managed File Transfer in Flint, Michigan

A Day in the Life:

The Solution Architect, MFT will design systems for data transfer and communication with partners via Managed File Transfer in an AWS environment. They will create and maintain enterprise level data system architectures using UML and create custom data and integration solutions design recommendations based on business objectives and long-term enterprise architecture and enterprise data architecture strategy. They provide input regarding the integration of applications and data across multiple applications both internal and external to the enterprise using AWS Cloud and other technologies. Responsibilities may also include participation in performance monitoring, product evaluation, and buy vs. build recommendations. They are accountable for complex projects solutions that require in-depth knowledge from both application development and data management. Responsible for creating and maintaining artifacts to showcase conceptual and logical solution architecture, transfer flows and technology stacks to meet business needs.

What You'll Do:

  • Create and publish architectural artifacts, present to Architecture Review Board and stakeholders, and educate the business and technical teams about the architecture

  • Communicate with Managed File Transfer stakeholders regarding new requests and changes

  • Maintain knowledge of and apply industry best practices for data technologies, platforms (on-prem and Cloud based) and architecture. Responsible for developing future state architecture, technology, and migration plans. Evaluates and selects from existing and emerging technologies options best fitting business and IT strategic needs.

  • Provides technical leadership in developing solutions by applying industry best practices for end to end data solution architecture on AWS, participates in cross-functional architecture teams, and develops future architecture, technology stack and migration plans. Communicates with business owners, product owners, other architects, and the technical delivery teams.

  • Creating architecture documents and technical enablers and communicate to review boards, stakeholders and PMO to meet project gates, milestones, and strategic objectives.

  • Supports the implementation of enablers and ensures solution of technical and architecture enablers to meet solution objectives.

  • Collaboratively work with functional specialists and have discussions to understand and document the domain requirements and problems.

  • Drive long-term data transfer architecture roadmaps in alignment with corporate strategic objectives.

  • Pursue learning about new technologies and industry data management trends and, if appropriate, recommend their possible use within the company.

  • Objectively review/analyze data transfer architecture.

  • Able to recommend architecture improvements for operational performance and reusability.

  • Conduct data reviews to ensure data and security related standards are met.

  • Work closely with MFT Admins to optimize performance and reliability.

  • Proactively educate others on basic managed file concepts.

  • Superior & demonstrated team building & development skills to harness powerful teams

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of leadership within the organization

  • Provide timely updates so that progress against each individual incident can be updated as required

  • Write and review high quality technical documentation

  • Ensures their workstation and all processes and procedures, follow organization standards

  • Encourages and maintains a ‘Best practice sharing culture’, always striving to find ways to improve service and change mind set.

What We're Looking For:

  • 8+ years of related experience in architecting, developing, or managing complex IT systems.

  • Experience with AWS architecture (S3, EC2, Kinesis) and implementation required

  • Experience with IBM MQ and IBM Mainframe required

  • Experience with IBM Sterling is preferred

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Applications, or an engineering field or equivalent work experience

  • Expertise in industry standard patterns and practices for data management and transfer

  • Experience with a Data Integration/Transformation tools (Informatica) preferred

  • Travel, rental, transportation, or hospitality experience required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Flexibility in scheduling which may include nights, weekends, and holidays

We expect the starting salary to be around $135,000 to $155,000 with annual bonus and profit sharing eligibility. The actual salary will be determined based on years of relevant work experience
