Position Summary:

Responsible for the delivery of nursing care within the assigned practice scope of practices following organization policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.

Monitors ordering and storage of chemotherapy medications and records related information.

2.

Calculates and verifies with another qualified health professional the body surface area (BSA) of the patient and verify the appropriate dose ordered.

3.

Prepares patient and administers chemotherapy assessing signs and symptoms of adverse reactions and ensuring patient comfort levels. Performs port draws and maintains ports.

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

One year of oncology nursing experience.

  • Current State of Michigan registered nurse license.

  • Current BLS

  • ONCC Certified Oncology Nurse (OCN) within eighteen (18) months of hire.

  • Oncology Nurse Society (ONS) or equivalent Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration course within six (6) months of hire.
