We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineering Technical Advisor to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for the Components Business Segment in Charlotte, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Identifies and implements advanced or complex manufacturing processes or technologies. Leads, co-leads, or advises manufacturing teams. Either demonstrates advanced comprehensive manufacturing knowledge in one discipline or integrates manufacturing technology or processes across several disciplines.

  • Applies comprehensive knowledge or use of technology as it applies to manufacturing in a wide range of work situations.

  • Integrates the total impact of manufacturing technology as it applies to advanced or new manufacturing solutions for a safe environment while balancing cost, quality, and delivery.

  • Develops and leads large or complex projects.

  • Develops and drives standardization for manufacturing.

  • Manages projects in a cross-functional environment and has the ability to lead matrixed and dotted-line teams.

  • Coaches and mentors manufacturing personnel.

  • Serves as the technical expert for one or more manufacturing disciplines.

  • Advises and recommends long-term resolutions to systemic manufacturing problems.

  • Collaborates on and/or solves complex manufacturing issues, and provides solutions across the Cummins network.

  • Provides interfaces and leadership with indirect suppliers.

  • Supplier Relationship Management - Manages strategic suppliers using the agreed process with an established work plan, senior sponsor meetings, and scorecards; defines and evaluates a collaborative relationship with a Category Partners List supplier to deliver value to Cummins and the supplier.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • A STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related bachelor's degree or higher, is required.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • Extensive relevant work experience required, including manufacturing or manufacturing plant experience, and leadership of a large project or multiple projects.

  • Understand Cummins Meritor's global gear capacity and capabilities.

  • Provide internal gearing capacity and layered gearing capacity reports to the business unit for strategic decisions.

  • Develop strategies for gearing capacity upturns with business unit management, and project management for gear and rear axle programs.

  • Work with engineering to optimize and design products for manufacturing.

  • Work with business unit and procurement to find the best balance of internal capacity, outsource capacity, and Cummins Meritor joint ventures.

  • Support gearing and rear axle launch programs to ramp up production learning, and manage gearing transfer capacity between plants.

  • Industrialize gearing capacity and rear axle capacity as a result of strategic decisions.

  • Promote best practices and gear cost and continuous improvement.

  • Subject matter expert for global gearing manufacturing.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary rate commensurate with experience, range: $109,600 - $164,400 . Please note that the salary range provided is a good-faith estimate of the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
